India: Male Dominating Society

Male Dominating society, I know most of us know that India is A Male Dominating Society. Today I was in office there was a sudden discussion, nothing serious just a humorous, but this discussion make me to think " Is our country still male dominated?"

One India- Yes, this area is still very male-dominated. Dowries are still practiced here, caste-based marriages still happen, honor killings of women still occur if a woman chooses to marry someone that is not of the same caste, many Indian women in marriages are forced to have children against their wills by the anger of their in-laws and are beaten if they use birth control, may women still not allowed to go for jobs, many girls still not allowed for better education.
Another India- less male dominated than previous India, however, women here still do face much harassment from men. That is why in Bangalore in other Indian cities, city buses are segregated by gender due to the severe harassment Indian women face..at night after 9 pm in most of India, it is extremely unsafe for a woman to be out..this is unlike the us and Europe where a woman can be out drinking with her female friends and feel safe even until 3 am. Rape cases and female foeticide still there all over India.

Still some people claimed that "Indian society has never been a male-dominated society because men have always lived his life for the protection of women in the society. Even now. But now women have turned the tables. Now women want men to fulfill her desire, which has always been like this from the start, but now women have started refusing to accept slightest responsibility. Not only women want men to perform his duties but also want that women are making them do it or else they would again start oppressing women. Such humiliating allegations had been tolerated by the society only because they are women and men are expected to bear the responsibility of women." Personally I am not agree with this part.

As a child, girls are often treated differently from male children in terms of nutrition and health care; where limited food or financial resources are available, the insufficient means are prone to be allocated unevenly in favor of the male offspring. They often treated differently in terms of education, pocket money, medical, travelling, movies, outings, tours and so on.

Please don't try to become cool and say there is nothing like in our family. I am not talking about each family, but most of.. this is same.

I want to write more, but all things concluded to one that India is a Male dominating society. Everyone say, we will never treat women like this, but somehow they do. May be I also did, I do. But I am taking this as input and will try at my best to treat women as equal as I am.

I know, this is very shameful and am ashamed, even I can't promise that I will treat them equal, because this thing is in nature, but surely I am trying, I will try and someday I will say " I treat women equally" with proud. Well wishers, help me.
